This project proposes a regenerative design that can alleviate the local food problem in an innovative yet pragmatic way. We believe that the future trend of architectural designs does not only limit the provision of space and programs, but also improve the ecological context for promoting new habits for good. Sham Shui Po is selected as the pioneer district to implement the design as the district has the highest rate of poverty among other cities in Hong Kong, urgent interventions in the district is compelling. The design utilizes existing urban voids in the middle of Nam Cheong Street, Sham Shui Po. A centralized food exchange square is built to support the expandable farming structure. The proposed project will be incorporated in three different levels that mingle the system altogether : food cycle system (i.e. handling food and food wastes), infrastructures (i.e. food exchange square and track) and human scale items (i.e. food waste composter ball, individual farmlands and stores).
